I cannot recommend highly enough Focus Mandarin, and in particular, the Mandarin teacher. The lessons contain just the right mix of work with textbooks, reading with other materials and conversation. The teacher is very sensitive to any requests that I have as regards the content of lessons, and has been able to tailor the material that we cover to the specific requirements of my job.
I have been impressed by the teacher’s thorough preparation before lessons, her ability to switch seamlessly between Mandarin, Cantonese and English (very useful for a Chinese person who is sometimes more confident speaking English than Chinese), as well as her knowledge of technical financial terms and business Mandarin. The vocabulary sheets and recordings that are provided after each lesson are a useful learning tool. Most importantly, the lessons are fun- I am now far more confident conversing in Mandarin than before, and my vocabulary and fluency is improving by the day.

Ich nehme seit circa 12 Monaten privaten Kantonesisch Unterricht bei Focus Mandarin Communication Limited. Bisher habe ich damit nur gute Erfahrung gemacht. Die Lehrer sind ausgezeichnet – sowohl professionell as auch freundlich und zielorientiert. Kundendienst und Kundenzufriedenheit steht hier an erster Stelle. Das Program ist flexibel und man kann sich entsprechend einteilen wieviel Zeit man dem Unterricht widmen kann und moechte. Desweiteren is das Program spezifisch auf den eigenen Lernfortschritt zugeschnitten und die Lehrer nehmen sich viel Zeit die Themen zu behandeln in denen man groessere Schwaechen vorweist bis man zufrieden ist. Die Werkzeuge zum erfolgreichen Kantonesisch lernen werden einem zur Verfuegung gestellt, beispielsweise in Form von Hausaufgaben, Uebungsbuecher und thematischen Vokabellisten. Alles in allem empfehle ich Focus Mandarin den Leuten die sich gerne zukuenftig in Mandarin oder Kantonesisch verstaendigen moechten und dabei gleichzeitig mehr ueber Hong Kong und seine Kultur lernen wollen. Es ist ein unproblematisches, flexibles, interaktives und angenehmes Program – genau das was man braucht wenn die Sprache die man lernen moechte schon so komplex ist!

Key WordやKey Phraseの説明を受けた後、各生徒さんが遭遇しやすい状況を想定して、これらを練習する工夫をしてくれるので、非常 に有難いし、楽しみながら中国語を勉強できます。また、当日のレッスン内容と異なる講義/質問を求めた場合、丁寧に対応してくれると同時に、その内容が生徒のレベルよりもはるかに高いものである場 合は、正直に指摘してくれて、また後日のレッスンでカバーできる旨の提案を頂いたりと、生徒のレベルにあわせた柔軟な対応が非常 に有難い。

教材が様々な状況に応じて整理され、かつ体系だって作成されており、非常に理解しやすい。1回1回のVolumeも適切。また、講義のClass Notes及び音声録音データを講義後すぐに送付してくるたので、非常に復習しやすい。

Focus mandarin has been the best decision I made in terms of learning languages. I already speak 3 languages fluently and have been disappointed many times by private teachers and schools and was hesitant to sign-up to classes when I decided to learn Mandarin. My conversational Mandarin was never good enough, as none of them was able to demonstrate me the tricks, do’s don’ts nor enunciation techniques, as those could be quite clumsy for Cantonese speaking population.
